The changelog is located in /home/opt/maemo/usr/share/doc/mplayer/

You should be able to find it there pretty easy.

Thet's wrong because the docs are purged by a script during the installation (for every application). That's a mechanism to save memory from the pre-optification time.

Is this worth filing a bug? If the doc directory isn't at the small root partition purging is obsolete isn't it?

Ciao jukey

Sorry but you are wrong. ( I say this politely )

The log file is located in the directory which I spoke of in a .gz format. If you go to that directory and do the following;
gzip -d changelog.Debian.gz

Then do a;

mv changelog.Debian changelog.txt
( I know you can vi / vim the .Debian however I have a tendency to mv to a .txt, just a personal thing )

then;

vi changelog.txt
(Using cat borks the viewing in my opinion)

Confirmed last update in this is for 1.0svn20091221-3 and goes back as far as the original mplayer updates (0.18-1 on Monday June 25th 2001.). If this isn't in fact a changelog then what would you call it?

Not sure how you can say "there is no content" because I am looking right at it. Should I take a video and upload it to youtube for you to see what I am looking at?

Here is what I have on my N900 with the latest install of Mplayer via Extras-Devel

Code:
$ cd /home/opt/maemo/usr/share/doc/mplayer/
/home/opt/maemo/usr/share/doc/mplayer $ ls -l
-rw-r--r--  1  root  root  1001  Dec  21  02:27  README
-rw-r--r--  1  root  root   519  Dec  21  02:27  README.Debian
-rw-r--r--  1  root  root  2012  Jan   6  20:58  changelog.Debian.gz
-rw-r--r--  1  root  root   292  Dec  21  02:27  copyright
-rw-r--r--  1  root  root   110  Dec  21  02:27  default.css
drwxr-xr-x  2  root  root  4096  Jan   6  05:02  examples
drwxr-xr-x  2  root  root  4096  Jan   6  05:02  tech
drwxr-xr-x  2  root  root  4096  Jan   6  05:02  xml
You running the most current version of mplayer?

**Doing a complete uninstall and reinstall to verify those items are still there.

Just did a complete uninstall and re-install and the items are all there. This is of the latest -3 version of mplayer.

I'm installed the last package from extras-devel: 1.0svn20091221-3

Maybe it's the firmware? I'm running the pre released one: 2.2009.51-1

What is the version of your firmware?

But anyway... I saw that the author is posting the changelog also in this thread so I can have a look for changes there.

Hmm could be firmware, I haven't done the .51-1

Yup I agree at the end of the day it doesn't really matter providing we have the changelog information I just prefer the local changelog files if they are available in exchange for the 4kb of space loss.

Just strange that two identical installs of mplayer are showing a different structure. It could also be that the release firmware doesn't install as clean as .51-1

I am still seeing the change log for some reason. Not sure if that is by design or my firmware is the issue (.42-11.002)

And if anyone was curious it says for -4 just a Changed package description
