Check your hash string and copy it EXACTLY here - with capital and small letters.

Code:
echo root:$(grep -A 13 lock_code /dev/mtd1|tail -1): > /home/user/MyDocs/old_lockcode
The resulting file, when opened in Notepad, also shows 'root::' as well (thus, John the Ripper cannot 'crack' the code).
I've got this same issue. Any ideas out there?

I thought maybe my lock code was null, however, you can't press "done" without entering in a number.

Just run this command line:
Code:
echo root:$(grep -A 13 lock_code /dev/mtd1|tail -1):
in XTerm.
It will give you output in the terminal. Make a screen shot and post it here.

This is the code that i got EXACTLY: I175/BqIwc5z6
I am not sure if the code is supposed to have a / but this is exactly what appears after i run the (grep -A......) The first letter is NOT an L by the way, it is a capital "eye". SO is the one after the "q"

Can you try this one: 1410021? With code of your last post JTR spit this number. Which is 7 digits, not 5...
