Ive got 54MB free space on rootfs, done all the obvious stuff and things mentioned in the thread, I still cant update and it asks me to connect to a computer.
Its such a pain that I cant get 1 single update done on my phone from day1 without a hiccup .
anyone solved this mystery yet with something else ?

I had the same issue - it usually means there's a conflict that App Manager can't resolve. I just ran "apt-get upgrade" as root, then rebooted, which seems to have worked without an issue. You could also try removing applications until you find the one that's causing App Manager issues.

best place for change logs is bugzilla
There are never official ones, so viewing resolved/fixed bugs will be your best bet

Seems to have updated ok, but it removed some of the image mods I did!
Such as the coloured network receiver icons, and the battery icons
Do I need to remod it?
The varient 205 firmware is the Vodafone own branded firmware fro N900 bought directly from Vodafone.
If you are using a VF sim but bought you N900 from any other source than a Vodafone Store (web or brick) then is should be variant 203.
