Hi All,
I'm having a problem with my Sygic. I am in Atlanta, Georgia, U.S.A. Sygic map program took over 2 minutes to lock my GPS position. I'm not using any network or wifi. Is there any configurable that I can do to improve the speed of locking into the position? It is not usable at the moment when I'm driving, because it took over 2 minutes to lock in. It is every frustrated when you are getting lost and want to know where you are.

Any suggestion?

I am having the same problem.
Infact i haven't seen the sygic locking gps even after trying a bt gps receiver which gets instantly locked by ovi maps but not by sygic.

Appreciate any kind of help.

That is not the "same" problem if one of you is using internal GPS without AGPS and without Network Positioning, and the other is trying to use a bluetooth gps...

2 minutes doesn't sound abnormal for unassisted gps btw

Where can I report a bug in sygic? When I go to hardware settings and press automatic search the phone freezes and I have to boot it. Tried is several times, but doesn't work.

Is it possible to search by "Places" rather than by address? What if you don't know the address to a place but simply know the place? OVI maps does this, by the way.

Does Sygic use AGPS that came with the N900 unit? I did not know that N900 has both internal GPS and AGPS. What I know is I started the Sygic map and selected no network, and it took the Sygic over 2 minutes to lock into any postion, even I just stood out side my house with clear sky.

Is it normal to take this long for the scenario that I just mentioned?

It's not 'both internal GPS and AGPS'. Its A-GPS, period. The N900 comes with a (poor) TI GPS chipset, which needs assistance if you want a reasonably fast lock. In other words, it works better if you're online at the time.

Sygic gets its GPS data through the GPS subsystem on the N900 (which I guess is a version of gpsd, the gps daemon). Thus you could also switch to an external Bluetooth GPS by changing the setting in the control panel. That comes with its own set of problems though, basically the software on the N900 does a poor job with the NMEA data so that not all the info comes through all the time, and that combined with Sygic wanting all the data (not just position, speed and altitude) all the time can be problematic.

Am I the only one having this problem? This is the US version of the Sygic. No way around it?
