Thanks to the experienced users in this thread who have helped the other users to do an update. If it was not for you guys Nokia's Flagship phone would be dead in the water.

Can i urge all people to convey to Nokia theyre frustration and annoyance.

Apple or Google would not do this to thier customers.

uninstalling oldest apps did the trick, most of the newest are ok.

*edit* too bad the update went wrong, I had to flash, so I lost everything because I didn't expect the update would screw up (never happened before)

Can someone help me please.
Firstly, A software update icon does not appear on my n900.
Secondly, Nokia Software Updater says i have the latest software (which i dont)
Thirdly, I tried reflashing the phone but it just said 'Suitable USB device not found'
HELP NEEDED PLEAZZZZZEEEE!!!

P.S what is a kernel. is there anyway to download the new software and install it manually on my phone

8. Change the directory to the Flasher's path by typing in "cd "%ProgramFiles%\maemo\flasher-3.5"
9. Hold the u key on the device keyboard and connect the USB cable at the same time.
10. Run the following command by typing:
"flasher-3.5.exe -F RX-51_2009SE_10.2010.19-1_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin -f"

After this completes

11. Run the following command by typing:
"flasher-3.5.exe -F RX-51_2009SE_10.2010.13-2.VANILLA_PR_EMMC_MR0_ARM.bin -f -R"

then i open cmd window, what i need to do ? if i put "cd "%ProgramFiles%\maemo\flasher-3.5" nothing happens. what exacly i need to do ?

by the way, my flash directory C:\Program Files (x86)\maemo\flasher-3.5. so if i understand corect, i need paste this link to black window now ? but nothing happens..

all the instructions is doin assuming that you have installed you the flasher into the program files directory and is using windows env variable to access it. you dont have to do that you can just use the literal path. i think you are also missin a step too to run flasher again.

do you have the bin files in the same directory?

During the upgrade to PR1.2 via NSU I have got an error, that the upgrade is unsuccessful. After the 2nd try, the phone did not start at all :-(

Even Nokia service desk could not help -> "phone must be sent to factory"

Going back to my E71

Had a problem with a broken OTA update, too. Phone went off during the update and then stucked at the white Nokia screen (battery was full).

I then did:
1st flash system:
flasher-3.5.exe -F RX-51***PR_COMBINED_Image***.bin -f

and

2nd eMMC:
flasher-3.5.exe -F RX-51***VANILLA_Image***.bin -f

Result: Phone back on and working fine ;-)

sorry i haven't read all the posts....

My upgrade went wrong, but I manage to recover from it in the end, I do like PR 1.2, so my advice is as follow:
- take a backup of your contacts, etc
- plug the phone in as mass storage, copy all the files you have in the phone to a folder in your hard drive (including your backup).
- download the nokia tool and download the upgrade that way
or follow the intructions to flash the phone manually, sorry i don't have the links at hand (the last option is what i had to do when the over the air upgrade run out of space in my phone), so i had to reflash it and start over but now i'm glad i did it, lots of space on the rootfs after installing more apps then i ever had before.

after downloading the update and placing file in C:\ProgramData\Nokia\Nokia Service Layer\A\nsl_service_module_00001\vpls\www.dsut.onl ine.nokia.com.oti.caresuite\Products\rx-51

NSU is still not recognizing an update. I have tried to USA version, global and also put a copy of vanilla in there(not sure wat the hell it takes to get it to recognize so i just downloaded it, never noticed it in any instructions other than flashing...)

can someone help me with this or atleast provide me with the command to check my space it rootfs?
