This represents a 1000% growth in the last year! While we can't expect this growth trend to happen forever, there apparently are more than 270K developers developing on the platform currently, so this time next year, phones and tablets may have a similar growth in applications.

Of course, this number doesn't take into account external markets (eg. v-cast store, archos market, upcoming amazon market, gameloft store, etc).

But even without growth speculation, 100K apps represents a fine selection of applications for consumers and OSS advocates alike.

For future Tab owners, this is a very nice bit of news.
And with every device sold developers developing solely for the IOS start considering an Android version too. Taking more advantages away from IOS.

Well... and everyone else, for that matter. You hear that, OviStore?

They really need to get QT working in Android, Apple, etc.. it'd be nice to have access to the same app across different platforms. No idea how hard it currently is to write an app for Apple, then for Android, then for X, etc.. (unless it's written in a basic language like C and then compiled for whatever).

Yes the HTC Sense also has 7 screens - but I couldn't find any setting to make it lesser. One more reason to switch to Launcher pro me thinks.
Having used the HTC Sense's 7 screens I realized that too many screens is overkill. Maemo kept it just right (4).

It's ironic, but I agree that 7 is too many. I set mine to five, actually.. so that I have a middle screen. It makes it easier to swipe left twice to get to my games/TV shows/etc. One swipe left to my car stuff (Google Maps, Navigation, OBD reader, car mode shortcut, etc.) Middle for my most used apps, weather and power widget, one swipe right is where I keep my hacking tools (EasyRoot, ROM manager, Titanium Backup, etc.) and two swipes right is my productivity (calendar widget, stock/financial widgets, etc.). Beyond that, I just tap the apps button and bring up the application tray to see ALL my apps and pick one.

Is that sarcasm? If not, yes more or less. It's a VM, but you get the equivalent from either or both. (You did notice I provided two links there, right?)

Now this is a sheik homescreen. Introducing the Clockr widget.

Minimalist, beautiful, and sure to make iOS fans envious.

I didn't. Still not impressed. The QT looks half-asked at best, still requiring a VM wrapper and several modifications to the Makefile's and turning apps into libraries.

The scripting, without any sort of UI support that I have found yet, is completely pathetic.

I swear.. adding a "TA DA" to that is as ridiculous as the clowns around here spouting the N900's phone features to be the best thing since sliced bread.

I kind of expected the longer members here, whether you like the N900 or not, to still at least maintain an IQ level higher than that of the village idiots we got running around.

I fail to see how this lighthouse project and ASE come anywhere close to the python, pyqt4, and qt integration of the N900. They aren't even in the same playing field.

It's like running NitDroid on the N900, MeeGo on the Nexus One, and this. Sure, it's impressive people are getting **** to work within the sandboxes they are provided.. but at this point they all are missing several features. And aren't really arguments within themselves of anything compared to other devices that are actually meant for those fields.
