I don't particularly hate WP7. But like Android, iOS and other before then, they can't handle my pace. I like, and use, multi-tasking a LOT. Even my n8 can handle multi-tasking better than the competition.

I can read my social networks or email while I download a youtube video and wait for some webpage to load (conection here is really slow, so what makes browsing slow is the network, not the browser), all that while my maps is routing some way and listening to music. I could state some other activities that I could be doing imultaneously on that 680MHz piece of crap, and not one other phone (other than n900) can do this half as well, even with dual cores and gigs of ram.

It is usual, for me, to have 4 or 5 browser tabs open, visiting another site while the first is loading. And music is something that I use my phones a lot for.

Another thing is doing all that while on a call using speakers or external ear-phone. I do this very often.

In sum, when Android, WP7, iOS and all those crappy OS's graduate from being a "phone" OS to being a mobile computing OS I will probably jump this sinking ship, but for now I HAVE to stay... Oh, and when those ****ers learn how to make a frigging camera on a phone, because a n95 STILL makes better photos than 99% of the competition....
AGREE i do very similar to you as i have always been a multi tasking god and the reason the N900 nearly did everything you and i wanted apart from not having enough ram it would have been the perfect device IF Maemo had been further developed by Nokia.

The N9 as we all know does not have the pull out K/B but it has the proccessor power along with enough ram to make that difference.

It is VERY thin and lightweight and the screen really is tough as hell unlike that of the N900 but as you said the N950 could have been and still could be its sister with updated hardware.

I doubt the community will be able to handle once again futher development of the N9 because of its closed components, so once again it does not get to be the "great" developing community everyone wanted and needed.

I really do need the N9 in my possesion to be able to get a proper feel for it as one thing i did want to check out i couldnt because of being inside a metal enclosure stopping the gps working properly.

I did note you said the N8 you liked and was multi tasking very well and probably why i was told by the staff the N8 was the best so far... hmmmm strange as i have never owned or even played with this device.

Oh well i will watch this and other threads with interest as to the dilemma's people encounter regarding this N9, i know in a couple of days i can own one but i am resisting and will not buy one for myself.

N8 web browsing can not compare to N900 and the N8 VKB keyboard sucks so bad, hence my fear of how N9 VKB will perform

The lack of a comprehensive review about this device is bewildering. how are we going to make an informed decision whether it is worth buying N9. I still dont know if battery life is any good. Dont know if there is a word or excell program or pdf program for free to read documents. are there multiple exchange accounts. does N9 provide provisioning with corporate email. do contacts automatically appear in the email as you type in the name of the person you are sending email too. are the email folders separate as compared to N900 where everything was lumped together. is there a notification light. how strong is vibration alert. can you adjust the font of the text so its preset on large fonts. can you use google maps like on symbian.......

I really like my n900, but I got the n8 because the n900 has REALLY awful maps. Don't get me on Sygic, because for Brazil it is more than useless, whereas Nokia Maps for symbian is probably better than Google's.

I got a job that got me travelling a lot, so GPS and maps is one KEY selling point, to me. And I fear the n9 will see no such updates from Nokia.

Another selling point is the Camera. I'm a camera hobbyist and use it for my work, too. So win-win there.

And last, but not least, is one hand use and size. n900 is just too big, bulky, heav and clunky to be used one-handed, even with all the things CSSU did. The software is just terrible for portrait, and the hardware sure doesn't help.

These are the reasons why the n900 does not have a Sim card right now. I miss Flash,the browser, cute tube, xterminal, some hacking capabilities and some other things from the n900, but the n8 gives me GPS, camera, battery life and some simplicity, alongside giving me Twingo, FMobi, and other apps from my n900 days and more, like games and gravity, for instance.

I do miss the HW Keyboard, and I really miss my office suites from n900, they were really great (specially PDF), since I carry around a LOT of work material on the phone.

Oh! And Win RDP! I REALLY, REALLY miss win RDP on symbian. Something my n900 made that was really usefull for my work and symbian simply can't (and the competition can).

I hope the n9 can give all the n900 gave (except HW KB) and plus the benefits of symbian, I know I may be disapointed in several instances, but still I think it is worth a shop more than going to iOS or Android, because those I am SURE I will me disapointed in several places.

Multiple Exchange accounts = YES (some pages ago someone said it worked on the n950)

Office = ?

Google maps = YES (just use web-based version if you need it that much, although it is not as good)

rest = ?

Your going to have to wait at least 10 days for that to happen because no one will have had enough time to do a comprehensive review of any kind untill they have tested the device out a few days.

Please be patient ok.

I do not believe anyone has got it yet outside of Nokia unless they have stolen it !.

Nobody has been able to purchase a N9 yet and the only ones that are being reported here are demo's and that i am more or less 100% certain of.
