Iv also put the problem on my symbian site HERE (was a copy n' paste lol)

I have not got this problem myself, but Nokia is treating this issue very poorly indeed, i feel for you guys with this problem.

Hope that soon Nokia will listen to the web and repair your broken USB ports.

Who do we even speak to now?
If we can contact major shareholders and directors of Nokia.

Tell them thier investment is in danger as this "issue" is made more public, I'm pretty sure something wil happen eventually.

Enlarging does no good if they are not properly bonded also.

If the raw PCB has innate defects they will of course ripple down to manufactured boards.

@johnel (on pg 79)
The fact that there's now an easier route for more developers to make these devices and with Intel supporting it is exactly why I didn't just quit reading this site. I expect that either Nokia will feel the pressure to make a better device or someone else will but either way, I fully intend to pick up one of these maemo moblin qtopia monstrosities ASAP after they come out

@flydeep (also pg 79, RE: influencing friends)
I demonstrated my N900 to quite a few people and showed them all the neat stuff it did. I had it on EDGE and it *still* impressed people. And I never failed to mention that there was an unresolved issue with the power port.

The fact that something as blatantly obvious will be needing the threat or action of a court is beyond ridiculous. I expected and hoped that this problem would have been resolved shortly after I returned my device and that I would feel like an idiot and wait for the next sale on Dell or something.

For everyone's sake, I'm still hoping to feel like an idiot in that regard but I am sad to say I think I made the right choice.

As for a solution to the problem goes, I'm not an engineer of any sort but I've built electronics as a ham and the rule was always to never rely on the solder for structure. Every device I own that has a microusb port has a lot of support from the plastic housing of the device itself. I can understand cutting costs but when my $2 OEM flash card reader seems better built than a $500 phone... I just don't know what to say about that.

I honestly believed that the N900 would lead me to device convergence Nirvana, but now I can't help feeling that there's a time bomb ticking away in my basket full of eggs.

The label on the box has the date in xx/xxxx format written under the telephone icon. My box says 03/2010 and I've seen another n900 box that said 47/2009.

Well, if the date is written on that label, it will be something like 3/2010 (mine), 47/2009, 49/2009, etc.
