i didnt get to see the whole ad.... turned the tv on, and just assumed it was some random ad then i noticed a quick screen shot of a video with the 'play' button and thought to myself (that looked like the n9 video player)... so kept watching... and then *swipe* *swipe* *swipe* AHHHH ITS THE FRIGGIN N9!!!!!
its completely different to all the other ads that we have seen of the n9
annnnd... i got an email from harvey norman saying they are expecting it october 7
annnd.. i went to a telechoice (?.. i think that was the store) and their brochure said october 6 (but they only getting 16gb)

A Swiss retailer estimates that the phone will be available by the end of the week and, as far as I can see, provides world-wide shipping (at least you can select the country in the initial step). The price is currently 659 CHF (about 540 EUR, black 64 GB) + shipping.
I haven't tried to complete all the steps though (next-next-next-finish).

What Elop is trying to do is stop that little marketing thing they call 'cannibalism' which is bound to happen in those big markets. It would've ended up being Nokia n9 vs Nokia WP7....now he can't possibly have that cuz distribution of n9 is so limited. He needs to save face with the WP7 strategy he chose. This is one way of forcing it on consumers. Using the Nokia brand power but with ONE choice of platform.

Cannibalisation of WP7 sales by N9 is better than losing those sales to a competitor.
Cannibilisation should only be a problem for a monopoly / volume sales leader.
Maybe Nokia hasn't figured out that they aren't a monopoly / volume sales leader any more.
The only other explanation is that Elop is putting WP7 success ahead of Nokia's success.

So you've been following this thread very regularly & seen all the other ads I'm talking about?
I think there's been about two that we know for sure, have been shown on TV in other countries.
Sweet, I love the fact that it's a totally different ad, shows even more that they're pretty serious!

SGSII having HSPA+ does (at least superficially) seem like a performance advantage.
