Hi guys.

I have install Debian and work just great!

I do have only one issue with the keyboard...my phone is Italian (so Italian keyboard...)

So I have did this:

Closed Debian
Opened Debian chroot
then typed "dpkg-reconfigure locales"

and when the list come up I have choose the file " it_IT ISO-8859-1"

after that another list pop up and I have tried with "none" (and after I have tried with "en_CA.UTF-8")

closed chroot
opened Debian again but the keyboard does not work property..

Anyone can help me out with this?

Thanks in advance

Nico

I solve the problem, work 100% fine with N900 -> it keyboard!

Is awesome really!
Thanks a million time!

I did this instead:

add the following line to /etc/xdg/lxsession/LXDE/autostart in your Debian chroot:

@setxkbmap de

I was doing that from the terminal in Debian so I was not able to save the file...
So I have tried from the app Debian chroot (edited the file with leafpad) and worked right away.

thanks for everything!
(great package, great wiky, great website, etc etc)

Really?? after over 5000 Thank-yous? That diminishes my confidence in the community somewhat I must say.
So who was the first?

Slightly more on-topic, did anyone get VLC running correctly yet? Using the 3b image, and Squeeze repositories (without doing a full update), it works, with sound, but the colors are wrong (people have blue faces). I did find some Debian users that reported the same bug, but there was no solution given. At least none that I could understand.

To slightly increase confidence in the community and to set an example, I donated a token amount to qole.org, namely about the amount I had paid for a Nokia leather case to protect my beloved N900, which has become much more valuable thanks to qole!

I'm just curious: you did setxkbmap de and it gave you an Italian keyboard? Or did you set it to "it"?

Eh eh eh...

You are right...

I set it for "it", not for "de".

I copy that from the Wiki page, that's why.

I don't really think it and de are the same...

Bit of a newbie question from me. Which image file do I download from qole's website? Searched through this thread and there's a few of them, even a few Ubuntu ones. >.>

I'm mainly interested in getting OpenOffice up and running before my Spring Break ends. Also, are things like the keyboard still not working (based on the first post). Since a post from nicorumiz indicates that he got the hardware keyboard working.

You can actually install everything from the phone (download included) by using the app

"Deb Img Install"

The keyboard work great. My phone have one Italian keyboard so I had to change the settings.

If your phone is US will work right away.

I'm using qole's v3b, which is Debian 5.0 with OpenOffice 3.1. The Ubuntu images are attempts to get OO 3.2 running for armel.
Keyboard works fine for me, just for special characters not on the hardware kbd one has to tweak it with either xmodmap or xbindkeys.

As much as I appreciate the donations, the last people who I expect to donate money are the hard-working beta-testers doing so much of the heavy lifting for me finding bugs and offering solutions...

But I'm noticing in all areas of my life that the Good People who are generous with their time are usually the ones who are also generous with their money, too.

Thanks to rebhana and debernardis for both their time and their donations.
