My order on Nov 19th has a delivery date:

Dec 18th-28th.

Yes, mine is on the slow boat. No news from Dell yet.

Edit: going to the web site, they list Dec 11th as the shipment date estimate. I guess Dell has that long to ship.

the irony of it all, just as soon as my order with Nokia ships, I get the email from Amazon just now "Estimated delivery day - 9 Dec" I ordered 22 Nov. Well, hope that means one of you pops up the list when I cancel tonight....or should I keep it and see if someone is willing to 'up the ante' :-)

Hello from Amazon.com.

We now have delivery date(s) for the order you placed on November 19 2009 (Order# xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx):

"Nokia N900 Unlocked Cell Phone/Mobile Computer with 3.5-Inch Touchscreen, QWERTY, 5 MP Camera, Maemo Browser, 32 GB--U.S. Version with Full Warranty"
Estimated arrival date: December 18 2009 - December 28 2009
I called Amazon. They said that If I signed up for and upgraded to Amazon Prime for 2day shipping from the free 5-9day shipping it would bump me to the back of the pre-order line!

Yikes! Me no touchy.

I just changed the shipping online (through the invoice) seemed to bump my shipping up. No need to call the CSR?

At 10:38 tonight (Central Standard Time), I got an email from Amazon:
------------------------------------
Hello from Amazon.com.
We now have delivery date(s) for the order you placed on November 20 2009
(description of N900 phone omitted for brevity)
Estimated arrival date: December 09 2009
(stuff omitted about canceling the order, contacting Amazon, Etc.)
------------------------------------
It's interesting to me that they emailed me so late at night. They are moving right along because earlier tonight I still had the usual "Delivery after the 25th of December". I'm beginning to believe they might just clear out their order backlog before the end of December. My 20th of November order was just thirteen days ago.

I ordered from Amazon on 2 Dec around mid-day. A day later, the estimated delivery date still showed "after 25 Dec." I e-mailed Amazon Customer Svs this afternoon (3 Dec) asking if that was accurate (with the polite threat that I may cancel my Amazon order and switch to Nokia direct if that was their real expectation).
Got a prompt reply saying "Sorry, but we are out of stock. We'll update your status as soon as we get more in." I also got a "$10 promotional certificate" for my trouble. Pretty nice customer service if you ask me...
Funny thing is, just less than 4 hours later (after 10pm Central), my order status got updated. Amazon tells me to expect delivery by 9 Dec. With my requested 2-day shipping, that means they expect to ship my order on Monday, 7 Dec.
I'll be happy if that's the way it plays out!

P.S. No credit card charge yet.

*** UPDATE = Amazon Delay ***

On 8 Dec, Amazon updated the order status again, delaying expected delivery back to 15 Dec (from 9 Dec). The update said:
WHY WAS MY ORDER DELAYED?
While we do our best to adhere to our delivery estimates, our inventory is constantly changing based on information we receive directly from our suppliers. Occasionally, unexpected fluctuations in supply, delays during shipping, or changes in release dates for new products will add time to our original delivery estimate.

*** UPDATE: Amazon Delay Part Deux ***

On 12 Dec, they delayed again, this time asking me to approve of their plan to deliver by 17 Dec. We're having some fun now!
*** UPDATE: Amazon Delay Part San ***

On 16 Dec, Amazon delayed again...to 23 Dec now. My Amazon price ($450-50 rebate) is $50 better than other sources, so I'm happier waiting than going elsewhere. I WANT this phone ASAP--I don't NEED this phone ASAP!
*** UPDATE: They shipped it ***
@6pm on Fri, 18th. With 2-day shipping, they say it will arrive Tues, 22nd.
