The FCC clearance and the Conf coming are making me very confident that it will be released at june of july.

Just hoping for an Alien Dalvik implementation now

considering that android one of default resolutions is 800x480, and this device is likely to be 854x480 (without physical buttons) would I look stupid in thinking that some Android emulation on this could have the Android buttons emulated by software in those extra 54px?

Of course I'm looking forward for real MeeGo software support, but Android compatibility would be a SERIOUS selling point - the advantages of Android (marketshare included) + REAL Open Source

EDIT: c'mon even the Alien Dalvik official page have a photoshopped image of a N900 to illustrate what the sofware does!

I think the most important think Nokia can do is put the Alien Dalvik onto Meego. An instant win for Nokia/Meego, access the thousands of apps, making it a mass market device!

I think if Nokia make this small change - it will change Meego's and Nokias future around!

I don't see the point in that at all, They might as well just go full android with there own UI on top than implement Alien Davlik which is very limited btw

Yay. Thousands of badly coded, poorly implemented, disorganised, inefficiant appz to undermine the fledgling OS startup. Great!

I think it's more about appealing to end-user than a real OS policy. We all know that supporting Android fully (or even WP7, oh well) is not a good long-term strategy, considering the in-house investments so far.

Ond it doesn't need to be Alien Dalvik itself - a custom implementation a la Playbook would be possible (and preferable) as well.

And anyway it would be just one extra option for the user - if you don't like it, don't use it

according to the calender in the commercial video it says 2010 and 29th (Wednesday).

Only September and December have 29th on Wednesday. So the commercial is made 6-7 months ago?

It's not the best solution, but it WOULD be a selling point. And thats all we need, the N9 to sell well! Then Nokia will make more!

For someone who can't spell, you can't criticise Android apps!

Sure alot of them are one time apps unlike Meego. But the power users don't care - we probably won't use it. But for the newbies it's brilliant, best of both worlds!

Seems that's the case. I bet the UI will be different as well. Tweaks, tweaks, tweaks... 6 months is a lot of time.

And look at it:
