Thought I'd post what I have from these guys too - they were really responsive, but I moved my preorder with Negri. They are getting their stock on N9s next week and have room for few more orders.

Cost is $707 CAD/16GB, shipping for me to Canada was $80.

Only issue is, shipping here would be approximately 3 weeks and they require bank transfer for international orders. Someone here had posted a link to some local shopping website which had good reviews - up to you guys.

Best,
Kevin

I have a credit card. It works just about everywhere. Why do they require a bank transfer? I'm not saying they're not legit, but if they are legit, why don't they take credit cards?

Using a bank transfer instead of Visa/Mastercard removes protection from me the consumer and vastly increases the chance of me paying lots of money and receiving nothing of value in return, with little or nothing in the way of recourse.

Thanks, but no thanks

I've made no such argument.

Yes ,it is rare.

Out of hundreds of 3G operators in the world, only -literally- a handful of the smaller players in 3 countries use 1700 frequency.

Even TMobile does not use 1700 in any of their European installations.

Although one may still consider that does mere 3 countries are not the less populated ones, or the ones with the smallest smartphone penetration, or the ones were you're never likely to go during your life.

anyone else willing to trust this? he has almost 4000posts here...but having to get money to an account overseas is ... eek... especially thiland or malaysia...
I bought an E90 from an importer on Devon Ave in Chicago when I used to live there.. that's Little India in Chicago. They tend to import the more esoteric stuff. Is that the shop? They were legit, but I was able to visit the shop and see the box before I bought it.

EDIT: I just wnet back through some old receipts to find the name of this place. It is Overseas Electronics and they list both the 16GB and the 64GB models. I just called them out of curiosity and they said they are getting a shipment of N9s next week, and to call on Tuesday or Wednesday. They weren't able to say which models they will be getting though, they say they have to wait to see when they arrive.

As I said I bought an E90 from these guys, back in 2007. They are legit, but do ask to see what they say about warranty - as we know, it isn't valid in the US, challenge them on this if they say otherwise. I seem to remember I might have bought an 9300 from them too, way back in the day.

Funny if these guys get them before Amazon or Expansys in Europe, eh?

EDIT2: I just noticed they claim to sell memory cards for the N9. ???

All those things are true.

However, in Canada (maybe the US too, but I don't care) it really is only some of the smaller upstart networks (including the one I use) who use W-CDMA 1700. The big fish (Rogers, Bell and Telus) are not actively using AWS spectrum.

This is all a bit OT (but then it's still better than reading 900 pages of N9 grief and agony )

As I mentioned already, seeing as the country you may visit does not use that band exclusively it means that even if you were to visit you will still be able to use your phone, roaming on the other networks for both 2G and 3/4G.

In fact, you will still be able to make calls with a quadband phone on T-Mobile USAs network since it's only T-mobiles 4G network that is 1700 (AWS). So in the end it make no difference to the user. If they want to make calls, they can, if they want 3G/4G data then it will roam on other available networks.

I prefer to buy from places that have guaranteed return policy. Some of the smaller retailers get cheap and poorly made phones intended for third world market and when you want to return the phone, they will not accept it. I would stay away or read return policy very carefully. If someone asks for bank transfer, you will never get your money back if you want to return.

Regarding fake N9's from China.
Just thought I'd share a little website that does an analysis of how we are losing our manufacturing jobs to china.

http://www.americanmanufacturing.org/china-job-loss

Even though this is geared towards the US china does steal the intellectual property of all the first world countries so it would be good info for you guys to know over in Europe since you guys are going through some tough economic times.

They were making copycat N9's 3 months ago. They have the logo and box and everything. Their government does not crack down on it in any significant way.

yes, this is normal, because in order to have/make use of factories there, you have to give up the process.

exactly why some of my friends are able to buy real apple glass for ip4 replacements for thier repair shops...even in different colors...when the factory is closed for our business, its still open...! :O
