The more days that pass with no fix from nokia, the happier I am I just gave up on it and got a vodafone sim instead.
To be fair I have other reasons to switch that I'd been considering for some time, mostly signal issues. my new vodafone sim is WAY better at the office, and generally around. It makes a big difference to actually be able to get a signal to use that data connection ;-)

Check out Witter, a twitter client for N900
http://danielwould.wordpress.com/witter

If Witter isn't working for you, eg crashes/doesn't start, gives errors etc etc. Please run it from x-term using:
run-standalone.sh python2.5 /opt/witter/witter.py

This will generate diagnostic output. Without this I cannot help you.

Agreed - although Vodafone's Sim Only offers are not great when it comes to GB per month - they allow 500MB for an extra £5 per month whereas three's are unlimited at no cost... Edit: they used to be anyway

I have just contacted 3 in the uk and the lovely Indian lady in Mombassa confirmed that 3 sims wont work in Nokias unless they are supplied by 3. She suggested I pop along to the 3 shop to get a free upgrade to an N97 or some other make....
I politely declined and asked when I can cancel the contract instead as I dont see why I should be restricted to using the phones only they supply.....
They might have better usage deals but actually the overall service is poor and customer service is even worse. Since getting a vodafone sim I have great reception and every time I've rang them I've even spoken to someone sitting in the UK as well
My Vodafone SIM only costs £20 per month on 30 day contract with 600 mins talk, unlimited text but only 500mb usage. I will see what the additional cost is next month if I go overt that limit.....

Still no sign of this then? Anyone know how to do it manually? Really cant be bothered to wait for Nokia to release this.

Didn't know Three had staff in Kenya btw. What's "funny" is that Vodafone turned me down for a Sim only 30-day deal (assuming I default that's £20 I owe them, even though I just paid £499 for the phone...). First time I've been turned down for credit in about 5 years! My response? F*ck em. This phone and the shenanigans surrounding it have been a total nightmare. Should have just joined all the other mindless drones and got an iPhone.

Anyway, Nokia, please just hurry up and release this. I don't care about not being able to use it in portrait mode yet, I just want to make a call.

The problem is that three use a different type of sim, if you look at the chip on a three sim and compare it to any other carriers chip you'll see a difference in size. I think it's like if your three sim is over 6 years old it'll work in the n900 and if it's newer, well... this is the result. I'm hoping Nokia will bring out a fix as im currently stuck with my three sim in my 5800 and i' using some junk tmobile one in the n900.

Incidentally does anyone know why Vodafone do a credit check for a 30 day contract? I'd pre-pay if they're that arsed.

Ahh, but you look at the SIM holder in the N900 and the pins match up!

My 3 SIM turned up today, and doesn't work. Fortunately I am able to continue to use my existing Vodafone SIM until the bug is fixed.

I did check with 3 that it would work, prior to ordering...

Otherwise I guess I'll just end my Three contract and get a PAC code to go elsewhere. The fact that it's marked as fixed in the Bug tracker is slightly frustrating.
Fixed and released are not the same thing. Fixed means the source of the issue has been located and a work around applied and tested. The code has been put to central repository.

Release cycle means that it has been pushed out to all of us - generally much later!
