I will tell you where I am getting H2 2015 from - the interview with Jolla's CEO Tomi Pienimäki (in Finnish), as mentioned here:
He has also confirmed that we are not going to see another phone model yet, but another model is in Jolla's plans, probably revealed earliest at 2015. Instead of a new phone, huge improvements are expected to be revealed to the Sailfish Operating System.
The first Jolla was revealed 6 months before it came out, so there's a reasonable assumption to expect H2 2015.

I can only hope that for future models I can hazz access to proto models We'll see what they come up with at Slush! Looking forward to it!
Yes. Considering that :
- without the TOHKBDv2, there is less than 1,000 OTH (with real functionality besides a colorful backcover), within, let's say, 50,000-100,000 Jolla smartphones currently;
- all OTH are made using 3D printers, so to resize the OTH projects is not so difficult if IC2 interface is maintained in next Jolla smartphone;
So a new Jolla smartphone (with large screen) will inherit many OTH projects, just resized.

The first Jolla was revealed 6 month before sales because it was the first device and they needed something to keep up the interest and show that they are advancing. Now they don't have that restriction anymore.

If the original plan was to launch near 2015H2, they might have accelerated it because the original HW has difficulties in competition. Also, to get reviews and publicity for newer Sailfish OS versions, they need to launch a new device. I do hope when they launch a new device, it will be available either at the same time or very short time afterwards. Otherwise they'll miss the Christmas season...

It's called a joke.

With regard to the latter, you're using what sounds like a funny translation (which says 'earliest' 2015) to mean H2 '15. That interview was 9 months ago, and even if your extrapolation is what was actually planned back then, it doesn't mean it stayed that way ... indeed, they've so far managed to get one large carrier to sell the Jolla phone; 3HK - and it took a while even with that, despite them having a pre-existing agreement with HW. It would seem the market is telling them to get a more attractive and saleable product. Would it be wise to ignore this? Probably not.

Regardless of whether or not this product is a new phone, I'll eat my hat if the finished / almost finished new phone isn't at MWC and available for sale immediately or soon afterwards. There's absolutely no possible way they go all the way until H2 (meaning July at the earliest) without a new phone available to buy. The revelation and marketing for the first device was more like a Kickstarter, and Jolla was quite a bit smaller back then ... and the long wait for their 'new' device wasn't cannibalising sales of an old one. They should be aiming for availability soon after any device is revealed ... the longer you wait, the more people lose interest and look for something else, and the more your existing product sales suffer. 6 months would be awful for them, if not approaching outright disaster.

I've seen lots of comments about tablet/phablet...etc. Could it not just be a phone without TOH attached?

A Jolla phablet is just a phone?

I hope/think also abouyt Nokia.
We have rumors from Nokia and the same from Jolla.
Maybe Nokia will build the new Jolla Phone and give Meego-licenses into the project.
in one year then Nokia can anounce his new Nokia Phone with finish OS.
Nokia with Android will fail in my opinion. For Europe, after Snowden it will have a big chance to go big in the market.
Maybe with device-encryption (the E71 had this 6 years ago)
First consumer Phone with opensource VoIP encryption (srtp/zrtp) sync with Owncloud
Maybe a cloudsolution with an OS made for Raspeberry Pi so i have all my dates in MY Cloud
etc pp

I have a lot of ideas

There haven't been any rumours about Jolla / Nokia collaboration ... just idle hopes on the web. Not sure how you think Nokia can BUILD any device ... they no longer have any production facilities for consumer products ... and Meego is dead as a dodo.

  • Judging by the teased design, I would say the partner might be Xiaomi, but it might be just a wishful thinking
If the announcement was other manufacturer(s) working with SailfishOS, it would make way more sense to put the countdown in sailfishos.org, instead of jolla.com.
