sorry, actually "Easy Debian" is easy-deb-chroot. Easy Chroot is the more generic package without the included applications.
thank you.

I have a question. I did open the debian image installer. I put in on a Micro SD card. after the download is finished it says that it will extract and it will take time. But after i pressed "ok" its doing nothing. It says that the "background image option specified without filename". what's that mean?

The message for the keyboard focus appears, and after it, nothing happens...

The only way to exit this state is to press power and go to phone (I have spanish desktop and CTRL does not work in LXDE), then I can close the Easy Debian window

Anyway, all the other apps works ok
NoX:

Open a Maemo terminal and type the following:

Code:
sudo closechroot
debbie xephwm5
This will try to launch LXDE. Please send me the output from the debbie command.

chase:

When it says it will take some time, you have to press OK and just wait until the phone buzzes and flashes and announces that it is finished.

Where is it saying "background image option specified without filename"?

Hopefully you let the decompression finish and you didn't try to open LXDE while it was still decompressing...

I tried to make a ubuntu lucid image again, and it was still unstable. Maybe its compiled with options that the architecture of n900 doesn't like.
But I found this on debian about openoffice 3.2
http://www.mail-archive.com/debian-o.../msg23454.html
So maybe the openoffice 3.2 isn't so far away for armel on debian.

Did the Ctrl-dot window moving trick work for you?

I tried some portrait mode experiments, but they didn't work out so well. Things don't resize properly and the touchscreen goes out of calibration. (I think it is the two layers of X-servers...)
hey Qole, think nothing of it. i'm surprised that you've only received 3 donations. come on people. the man (shallow assumption assumingly) needs to eat to continue developing this awesomeness!

And yes, the "ctrl-dot" trick works like a charm. to this day, i'm still so amazed at seeing GIMP run on a mobile phone.

Hi

Finally, I got it working, just by changing again the .img and rebooting a couple of times... nothing changed, so it remains a mystery to me

But I have to say than now the keyboard works ok for me in the LXDE, in somewhere I saw that it didn't so it's a glad surprise :-) anyway it has the US layout, I tried to change it to spanish, as it says in the wiki, but it didn't work, i will keep trying...

Although now the desktop works, I'm attaching some screenshots if they are of any help

NoX: I notice that the name of your image file is missing the .ext2 at the end.

The full name of the image file should be:

debian-m5-v3b.img.ext2

If you change it to the correct name, don't forget to change your .chroot file, too, if you modified it.
