I am as excited as everybody here about this unexpected surprise.
But what I want is not fancy dual core CPU or more storage - N900 is OK in that respect. Improved battery life is what I will be happy to find.
The aluminium body is also a nice upgrade from N900.
Anyway - I hope what will see will live to our expectations.

What I do know is:
- there won't be a stylus,
- the screen is going to be capacitive, with no support of pressure levels,
- Nokia R&D is cut and the MeeGo part will be further reduced once this device is out,
- it'll start at a recommended £400 or higher,
- support will be **** poor, because Nokia is firing everybody and even today Maemo support is considered to be lacking,
- there'll be no in-brand upgrade path within a 12 months life cycle.

There's a lots of cons, though
+ it's going to be a full OS where all competition use sandboxes or trimmed down OSs.

That's an important Pro, isn't it? Let's see what LG comes up with.
I think Intel should come out with Intel branded, HTC built devices. Like everybody else.
We have already heard this zillions times by many people here. time now to stop this flood of same discussions over and over again!?

What do you and others win of saying the same over and over again?!

we already knows this! Who the **** cares anyway!? Personally I buy it cause the Linux community not because some ****ing corporation decisions! If you dont want it well get something else for **** sake!!!

I wouldn't call Elop an idiot, as I believe he's quite happy with how his agenda is going forth. I think he may have managed pretty much what he planned. I just don't like his plan and I don't think Nokia stock holders should, either. He ruined Macromedia too, but I don't think that was an accident either.

However, the reasons I wouldn't buy the MeeGo phone is:
- too many N900 advantages seems to disappear,
- Elop, idiot or not, lit fire on the Symbian platform, which is clearly MeeGo's sister platform, and that (Qt) was one of the biggest advantages to N9 over stock N900,
- Elop poured gasoline over the Maemo/MeeGo Harmattan platform and sold the rescue boats to Microsoft.

It's not about the person Elop, it's about the actions that the person Elop already have done and probably will keep doing for at least two more years.

I haven't been saying the same over and over again. I do not win anything, I consider any further involvement I put in this platform a personal loss (of time). I am however interested, I am observing and and I am commenting. If you've heard the same observations before from more people than me, it's because they're so god damned obvious that people just can't help themselves from pointing them out.

So you should blame Nokia if you get tired about hearing about flaws or unpopular decisions, because what I am observing is their doings.

- My N900, for some reason, have not been able to have have a built in 4 row keyboard.
- N900's in general can't do the special "I have hdmi out" dance.
- The N900 really sucks at not having an fmtx. (The Greek ones tried, but failed)

Sersiously though, I look at this like upgrading a pc hardware and installing a new release of the OS. I expect similar features, but stuff works better and faster

[Disclaimer: Most of the stuff listed may or may not be featured in the N9/50]
So your saying the upgrading the n900 to the N9 is like upgrading from Windows XP to Windows Vista?....(See what I did there...)

Update: I would have said PS2 to PS3, but that would make me seem like a fanboy..(I think he just did iit again..)

I think the differences are too big to say XP to Vista. Maybe 95 to NT4?

Haha, and you didn't understand my sense of humor and what "was" mean \o/
Looking after my post, what I meant was that it was almost the last official words of the heads of Nokia, nothing at the last meego conference, nothing since the elopisation, so much speculation everywhere, maybe this maybe that, etc ... (except what kind people who were the device on hand reveal here)
and now it seems that the next "real & official information" will come at least in a few days at this next conference !
Then we are near to say "rumor are finish" and "We got it !"

If you look at the video. The phone is almost the same as at these old pictures.

Well I haven't used vista so I don't know, but I was thinking more like Slackware 12 to Mint Katya (meaning less hacking more shine comparing to the older one. I assume you can hack just as much if you wish though.)

EDIT: more sense
