Because this would mean that Nokia is making 200k to 270k N9s a month!
By the way, where are the Windows Phones being manufactured?
If you believe what you read on the interwebs, Nokia will be outsourcing at least some of its WP handset manufacturing to Compal.

Bump-to-share, & data monitor, I wonder if Engadget will remember to also praise that in their N9 review
Hmmm....
Might wait longer & see of another handset OEM does something better than Sammy for ICS

I like it how moto always has a nice suite of accessories

I don't think carriers demanding this is an issue in Oz, won't be an issue for long anyway

Samsung Nexus
http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/18/s...-4-65-inch-hd/
The only significant hw improvements I see over the SGSII are: Display, NFC module(?), barometer, 32GB
Anyone know how much of an improvement the CPU/GPU are over the SGSII?

Interesting that the writer says:
but we're finding it mighty difficult to choose a favourite between the Galaxy Nexus and the GSII
I'd expect the Nexus's display to be very clearly better?
I wonder if it'll be better or worse than the SGSII camera-wise?

In ICS 4.0 I see many parallels with Harmattan now, but the knowing will be in the using.

Apparently most Android 2.3 devices will get ICS
http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/19/g...wich-for-real/
Although when exactly, is still very unclear…

Here's a comparo between the Razr and the Nexus
http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/18/s...e-tale-of-the/
Nexus uses the OMAP4460, & the Razr uses the OMAP4430.
I wonder if we'll ever be able to put some Harmattan goodness on there!
I'm inclined to err more towards the Razr, but need to see/use both 1st.
The Nexus has an advantage in that it'll have ICS at least 2mth before any other top-end Android ph's.
Even unbranded/unlocked ones....

Anyone know if the NFC transfer stuff Nokia does, does everything listed here?
http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/19/a...ity-data-exch/
*transferring webpages
*contacts can also be swapped, along with directions and even apps -- well, links to apps.
Touch one phone to another and it'll bring up the entry in the Android Market, sadly no direct pushes of APKs.
*The NFC circuitry in the Galaxy Nexus is indeed built into the battery, not the backplate (same for the N9 right?)
LOL

Nokia went OMAP3. Samsung/Google/Motorola went OMAP4. All are coming out in this quarter.

This whole announce early, release late game isn't working any longer. Time means way too many improvements when your management hasn't shown the flexibility and ability to quickly turn on a dime.

Simply stated, it's starting to look like a race where Nokia couldn't even qualify for the semi-finals, let alone the preliminary rounds. And to judge it all based on the OS/software, that's the same exact tactic as Microsoft in regards to WP7.

Not sure exactly what you mean here...?

How else are you supposed to judge whether a phone is right/useful (or not) for you? Personally I judge WP, and find it lacking. I haven't lived with it, but I have played with it.

If Nokia 800 is available widely, and hardware is identical to N9, will it be possible to port harmattan over to it?

No I don't, but I know some people who do. They said 3000 per shift, and have no reason to lie. No idea about wp devices.

Entirely different SoC (Qualcomm not TI).
I'm more interested in the possibility of porting Harmattan to the Nexus or Razr (see post above)
They use more recent TI OMAP SoC's than the N9.
But I imagine it'd be nigh on impossible...
