I have tried for the past several days to get TV on my 770 and followed quite some posts, and experiments with myself too (not that way, you pervert!) So far, I can watch "something" is the closest I can get. Hope to get some Debian guru to chip in to get it working.

Video center: I can get some video podcasting/RSS video streamed. But the major channels are still not working,

Re: Video Center

I am sorry that I still did not get it. I have installed videocenter on 9/16 and have played with it everyday, and I cannot find an "update" button. Could you please show me which menu to get to this "update" button? Thanks. When you said 80 TV pods, you mind to name a few? I can see a lot of internet videos, which includes PodshowTV, Rocketboom, Podmedia Reports, MobuzzTV Daily Buss, Street Fury Video Podcast, MODTVIggnation, Totally Rad Show, InDigital, Systm, Ripe TV. National Geographics, ABC World News, CNN, Anderson copper 360 etc still failed to work. Are any of these mentioned same as what you said 80 TV pods? Greatly appreciate your help, I am so happy that at least one of us get the TV working, while a whole bunch of everybody is still searching.....

Post if you want more info about videocenter.

Remote desktop to a PC running cableTV with ffdshow is the closest I can get. One gets ALL your cable channels, however, the 770 is refreshing 1 frame at a time. You can still watch it, and the resolution is, in fact, quite good. What is the catch?

1) can only get it on my own home network; have not been able to hack into my home network from outside yet.

2) no sound. Cannot get the TV audio (running from the PC) to go to the 770. On a regular PC remote desktop, there is an option "local resource" click speaker "bring to this computer", that will give audio on the local computer. There is no such option on the remote desktop version of the 770. Can someone help?

I can live with the video refresh 1 frame at a time, only if I can get the sound working.

Does anybody has better experience of bringing cableTV to the 770? I really dont care if this is videocenter, mplayer, media player, mediastreamer, whatnots, just get the TV working on the 770.

A little bit exhausted,

My system so far:

On the 770 2007He2007.36-2 flash/MMC 2G running rdesktop 0.4.
PC running windows XP mediacenter. Pinnacle PCTV HD pro stick 800eTV with ffdshow on. I think any PC TV will do.

Step by step to remote desktop your PC from the 770

1) Install rdesktop: go maemo.org>downloads>remote desktop click the green install button.

2) set up server on PC. PC should be running Vista, winXP pro or mediacenter. Start menu>Settings>Control panel>System>Remote> check "allow users to connect remotely to this computer". Select Remote Users...>Add...>Advanced...>Find now, hi lite anybody you want (I select myself)>OK. Jot down the username/domain, you need it later.

3) Find your PC's ip address: Start menu>Programs>Accessories>Command Prompt, c:\....>ipconfig /all and find your ip address, usually it is 192.168.x.x, copy it down, you need this later

4)watching TV: start rdesktop from your 770,
RDP Server: 192.168.X.X
Username: you user id from the PC
Password: your password to log into the PC
Domain: your PC's name
click save these settings? and OK. Bingo, you log into your PC, click the TV icon on your TV, you are watching cableTV from your 770, the first one on planet 770! congratulation.

If the PC is log on by another user, you may have problem. Try to log out to the log in screen, the screen with user names on, this way, the 770 can log on with anyone.

No sound? I already told you, need to hack on the rdesktop.deb. Dont forget to post back if you get the sound working.

Post if question

enjoy
