Just gave this a try on the N800 with beta OS08 
Its so much nicer to use than the default client. I plugged in my imap gmail account and it sucked down 3000 headers in an instant. I can't wait to use this with the hardware keyboard of the N810 (which I will pick up for xmas) , in fact its so much of an improvement that I think Nokia dropped the ball in not getting this product shined up in time for the N810/Os2008 release.

Good good good, I had just started to build tinymail+modest myself just before this announcment, exactly for the purpose of imap'ing with gmail (can't get claws to do that for me, with gmail as a second account). Didn't complete the project yet, but now I have something to look forward to.
