Hello,

I have been trying to download some podcasts (audio and video) to the new baby (n810), but the media player would only play and not save them for later listening when on the road.

Maybe it's easy as 1+1 but I can't find the solution.

I read about the new application for podcasts made available yesterday podsync (has some problems) and Canola should also bring podcasting (it will be available later this month). Nothing that is on the n810 already can fit the purpose?

Thanks!

Antonio

I believe gPodder has been ported or just works (based in python maybe) but to be honest your best bet is to wait the 7 days till the Canola beta is released. Its the most polished and stable media player on the IT platform.

I use video center for most podcast downloads on my N800. The only one it won't download is TPN Rockshow, for which I use gpodder 8.10.0.

gpodder should work on the N810 now as it uses python. Video center should be available soon if its not already.

Neither Gpodder or Podsync work yet, as far as I know. I tried them yesterday.

I don't think there IS a good option for saving podcasts for on-the-road use--maybe someone has tips for us?

Thanks,

I'll check with these and wait for the release of Canola. I have 3.30 hour commute once or twice a week. Lot of time in trains and subways...

If your just trying to download and save a file from the web or RSS reader instead of streaming it, just touch and hold link with the stylus (this is the same as a right-click). Then select "Save As" from the pop-up box.

Thanks CVC, I tried it must be keeping doing something wrong: when saving from the web it only will save a 22kb file which directs me to the only page in which to view the video or listen to the audio.

Ok, found a workaround, based on CVC post.

While still not able to directly donwload from the RSS page on the web page, I uploaded the feed to the RSS Reader and, as CVC suggested, it works. Now I can download to the Nokia n810.

Thanks,
Antonio

Wait - are you saying that you can take the rss link to a podcast and feed it to the RSS Reader application? I thought I tried that and didn't get it to work. I thought the included RSS reader was text-only. Am I missing something?

Weatherman, video and audio feeds appear with a special symbol on the Reader. You have to push and hold the stylus and select "Save Target As.." in the context menu. And down it goes (but real slow...).

I also got it through MyYahoo (context menu "save As...").

I haven't tried with the Podcast page, though.

Hope this helps.
