I'm hopefully going to have a fully functioning N800 to play with on Christmas Day, and I'm wanting to install OS2008 right off the bat.

I've been reading the articles about people flashing to 2008 and some people talk about using software other than the Nokia software. So, I was wondering, what options are their for flashing? And what is the best?

This has nothing to do with flashing. Flashing has to do with the OS and not the applications, and is currently limited to the official Nokia firmwares (only in that there aren't 3rd-party options so far).

Installing applications is done through the Application Manager from the repositories here.

So, FlasherGui.exe (as mentioned here in the 15th post) can't reflash the OS? I guess this is what happens when you assume.

FlasherGui.exe is one component of the official Windows flasher that you download from the Nokia website.

Install the official Nokia flasher, it is pretty self-explanatory once you run it.

Oh, okay. I feel kind of stupid now, but at least that's cleared up.
Thanks,
