You're absolutley right.
I'm a newby and had the same problem and looked on the forums and found the answer (pat myself on the back).
In fact I think I'm going to start another thread now about how many people are starting a new thread on this topic as well
On a serious note though. Is it not possible to put it in as a sticky on a couple of the forums. And preferably on the main page (above latest posts). I think a lot of people go straight from the main page to the different threads, so may not see the stickies

botom line: maemo website/repositories sucks!!!
if you want easy help you wont get it ;P unless someone hosts a copy of Python runtime 2.5.(please do)
The repositories are "working" right now every app should download unless stated!
The only problem with MOST apps that dont install is because python runtime dependencies and most of its components are extremely corrupted, the deb files were impropely packaged and the app manager rejects them and the python runtime itself is COMPLETELY MISSING from the repositories it recognises the files must be there but they arent, if you search the repo manually by using just the web browser, you'll get to that conclusion.
Now my only question is: The most IMPORTANT package/deb/program that makes most of all the other apps work is missing or currupted!???
the repositories are not being "hammered", they are just not being managed and instead of just getting on the server and replacing the files - they havent done anything about it for the past 2 weeks.
I'am tired of this, so can someone host and post a link to a working python 2.5 deb file, its the holidays thousands of ppl got an it for xmas and want to expand th it's capabilities.
If maemo doesnt take responsibility of this matter that we must! if they can't handle hosting repos let someone do it for them!
This might be quite radical but it is time for a change, and we are all tired of all the threads that lead to the same conclusion

Any one willing to pay for tech support, I'll do it for $40 an hour. Per minute billing. Just call 09xxxxxx. if anyone offers it for less, let me know I'll undercut them

I think these examples describe about 50% of the posts over the past two days. I just read about ten of them. If these problems are similar to what you get and you are reading this, then do yourself a favor and read the other threads for answers. You WILL find them. I promise. I'll also promise to lower taxes, walk your dog, and make you biscuits while fathering your web skills and unending trails of questions that have been plainly answered in the thread below or above this one. The General is more blunt when it comes to newbie issues, I tend to be a bit more subtle.
I don't consider research to be more difficult than just reading what's in front of you. Unfortunately this is what some people are incapable of, or they are just used to posting in chat forums or MySpace accounts. Usually I'm grateful to answer Q's, but this one has been beaten to death many times over. I give no links to your answer because it's up to you to take control and stop expecting personal help with this question as you can already see in troubleshooting and n800 forums plenty of these identical posts which only take five minutes to read.
