Will a N800 charge its battery from the USB port (when plugged into a PC, of course), or will it charge only from the charger port?

Thanks,
Doug

no.

i think the official reason that they did not make this possible, is that USB does not provide as much current as a the charger (so it would take longer to charge).

the is a hack for the 770 (that involve soldering).

i have a usb to nokia charger (quite easy to get hold of), and a old nokia to mini nokia adapter (also easy to get hold of).

If I just want to use usb power instead of internal batery (no charging needed) when close to PC? Will 100-200mA be enough? (nokia charger provide 890mA)
