I have that exact one, and am using it with this: http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.4860

Works great (even off 4xAlkalines, even though it says not to :P

4 x Alkaline = 6.0 volts, while 4 x NiMH = 4.8 volts. But either one is probably safe enough with USB devices expecting 5.0 volts. Most devices have a tolerance of +/- 20%. But not all - YMMV.

I don't think you can charge the n800 through usb yet without a physical hack (search). I'll definitely buy one for use with the other gadgets, though. Thanks for the heads up.

You can get a USB to Nokia power cable. I use one in the care and with my Tekkeon power pack.

Yeah but with shipping, at least for me, it goes up to almost $12, DAMN!!! They only ship UPS if they did USPS it'd be way less.

NiMH are nominally 1.2
NiMH batteries are nominally 1.2V, but they actually charge to more than that. 1.4V isn't uncommon, and I see 1.35V on almost all my batteries when fully charged. It drops as the charge is used up, down to 1.2V and less when the useful charge is gone. Alkalines start out at ~1.5V, but that varies also, and drops as the battery is used. For practical purposes, especially charging other batteries, they're pretty much equivalent.
