I've been trying to install Erminig on the n800 (OS2008) but the error messages from xterm say I need python-gtk. What repository do I need for this? (Or where do I find it?) I think there are some other requirements like python-hildon so if you know where to get those, that would be awesome too. Thanks!

They are all in the maemo-extra repository

http://repository.maemo.org/extras
chinook
free non-free

Just install python2.5-runtime and you'll get all requirements. Keep in mind that while installing Canola2 drags python2.5 as well, it does _not_ install python2.5-gtk. So you may have python installed without some essential libraries.

Thanks for the tip. I do have the extras repository in there and I _did_ install Canola2 pretty early on. I just uninstalled Canola2 but I can't find python to uninstall and it doesn't show up in the installable packages. Any ideas? Thanks again.

There should be python2.5-runtime in the list of installable packages. Maybe they removed it from the visible list. You could then either enable red-pill-mode (add new catalogue in the application manager, enter "matrix" for location, press cancel, answer popup dialog with "red pill"), use "apt-get install python2.5-runtime" as root, or just install some software which drags in python2.5-runtime as dependency (mediabox, e.g.).
