I was using the Application manager, clicked Check for updates and see the map application as the only entry in the list. If I try to Update it I get a dialog stating: "Unable to install. Software contains updates to packages installed from a different source and is likely to harm the system. Contact software author." The only way out of the dialog is an OK button.

Is this the way the application should be updated?

Edit: Found the answer by entering the dialog text to search...

Simple. Open Application Manager and activate red pill mode (do a forum search for red pill mode). You can then install the Map application update. I'm not sure what the update brings though.

Simpler. Deinstall the maps application and then install the new version.

The update will bring you nothing, since it's the same version of what's already installed.

right. so why is the update reflected in the list? and nokia hasn't noticed?
