So a few weeks ago I tried installing GPE Summary. When it went to download it, a popup came and and said download failed. I then tried about 10 other apps and the same thing happened.

So today I re-installed OS2008 hoping that a fresh start would solve my problem.....

...Nope.

Now I have a fresh OS2008 and I'm still unable to download/install anything. I get the same popup message telling me the download failed.

Anyone else having this problem??

Please Help.

Thanks

Did you do a restore of your back up? If yes then reflash without doing so. That should solve any problem

had a similar problem a few hours ago: the internet connection was kinda weak, so the download stopped in the middle, without disconnecting me from the internet, bringing up the same popup.

try moving closer to the router and try again; worked for me

Did you refresh your application list?

A little more info would be helpful. Go to the Application Manager Menu>Tools>Log. You should have some kind of error message, post it here. One problem I had after I enabled virtual memory was that my virtual memory was corrupt. Since the tablet tries to download to virtual memory. So nothing works. SEE "N810 OWNER ALERT, is your internal memory corrupted or will it be soon?" for further info. This problem also affects N800's

I'm in the same boat right now too.
Don't know for certain if it had to do with GPE suite or immediately after I had used Canola clean up. Now I am dead in the water and everything fails to install.

Will try a reflash for the first time on OSX. Anyone know where the heck the source OS2008 is? dev.nokia returns an error.

Thanks, but alas I kept getting an error message when trying to access it. Found a zip of it in my backups.

Update on issue: Flashed from OSX with the 770 flasher and following a partial backup restore, excluding the applications list, was able to 'refresh applications list' but unable to install anything. Same message as the original poster had....'download failed'...nothing else. This occurred with all efforts from the application manager itself and through any choice at Maemo.

Final solution: I re-formatted both my cards. arghh a 4gig internal and a 16gig external, then followed with another reflash. Voila, success.
I just downloaded FMradio successfully through the application manager.

sigh, back to square one. (on the bright side, man my unit is fast right now with nothing on it)

Pardon me, missed your advice. Hopefully the other guy will catch an error message reference.
fyi: I was not using 'virtual memory' at all in my instance.
I had problems with it previously and had chosen to avoid it all together since.

I realize this is an older thread, but it's close to my problem. I updated to the latest Diablo, and when I tried to restore, all the applications show up as greyed out. I try to do an update, but nothing really happens. Following the advice above, I checked the log. All the lines say "failed to fetch http:...could not connect to 127.0.0.1:8118". I'm guessing that it is somehow trying to go through a proxy (I used to have privoxy installed). I checked the connection I am using, and it does not have a proxy selected.

How do I get the application manager to quit trying to use a proxy? (Or am I on the wrong track?).
