Hi there,

is the support for video podcasts on the list already? (and if, where *g*)
At the moment the only option for this seems to be:
Register as normal podcast (and download new episodes in the podcast menu) and have the pocast folder watched for videos; however, you have to manually refresh the media database everytime you downloaded a new episode...

As it already works this way, it might be quite easy to implement;
example podcast could be
www.geekbrief.tv
and feed urls:
(generic small)
http://www.podshow.com/feeds/geekbrief.xml

(n800-feed)
http://www.podshow.com/feeds/gbtv-n800.xml

Lough and tantris: as I said in the other threads, the support for videocast only when podcast is done, still a little bit and pieces to be fixed in the download manager.

Don't worry it's coming..

Marcelo

*about being easy to implement : it's done. it's exactly the same code, but need smalll guides to point to video player etc. To avoid duplicated bugs, we will first end the podcast

Well, you can already subscribe to Video-podcasts. It won't play automatically, but when you tap it, it will open in mplayer...

I know - read my first posting ;-) But as we said - it won't be much to implement and the handling will be much nicer once it's implemented...

I don't mean to pry handful, as I understand you all are very busy with everything (and that new desktop app. looks very nice and about 100X faster then on my Vista mach running Media Center) but do you think we'll get VideoCast support in beta 8 ? (ie the next release version)

Once again and I have no idea why, I guess I forget I tried running VideoCenter again and it still don't work right (won't open mPlayer (/usr/bin/mplayer) from the external bit) so once again am left with bunk. I'm gonna try to dl and install Podsync for the meantime.

Just seems so redundent to have all these diff media players and we still aren't quite there for a 1 player plays all yet. (Canola is getting there though) I just can't yet get rid of my UKMP/UKTUBE as it's slick and just works.

Hi Ttgowing :
Actually I didn't use canola (development) resource to make the desktop thing. Also there's no modifications at all that our development build so the only thing that we did was to get someone that had a small amount of time to package it and make a script to keep it updated

So, the videopocast is already back on track, and I will let you know on wed if we managed. I asked Kenneth, and he said again that it's easier, he's only fixing a couple of bugs that were in the download manager. To avoid duplicating bug reports from video and podcasts.. we kept video out for a little while.

Conclusion: it's possible, but I will not promise but I hope I can surprise you with this nice feature working nicely.

Yeah, I know UKMP, Konttori's work was really focused and narrowed to small features and a "closed" solution (closed in a sense that he didn't have plans to be as complex as we do) so we have of course bigger bigger problems to make it flexible to implement all user's need that we think are relevant... That's why I always suggest UKMP or media box when Canola doesn't fulfill the needs. Anyhow we are slowing approaching the point where the only difference will be in UI, and thus people will be able to choose whatever they feel more comfortable and productive with

But, give the guys the credit, worked alone and did a nice job, we a doing the scrum way : earlier prototypes, getting your feedback, improving and showing the result on each beta. I'm quite happy with the amount of work since beta1, and we still have nice plans for it

Cheeers.

Marcelo
