Dear Users,
I have just received my Nokia internet tablet 810 model. To be honest, one of the biggest reasons for buying it was to use skype telephony, and I understood that to be already installed on the device. When I click 'SKYPE' on the programs menu, it then offers me an option box to "Install SKYPE?" - and I click OK. Application manager then appears to undergo a small download (that might be from the device itself, though I am connected to a network). The I'm asked: "install application?" with further info that it's skype 1.7.62.51.1 4.5MB - I again click OK, then I'm stuck. The device shows a dialog box: "Unable to install skype. Some packages required for the installation are missing."

From here I took what I thought should be the next step - to go onto the internet and installed Nokia Internet tablet software Wizard. I have it installed, I go through the instructions there. And though I see the USB icon in the top right of the device's display (after switching it on while holding swap button) - the PC software fails to find the device. I have installed Microsoft's .NET 2.0 software, so that's not the issue.

Anyway, just my luck. The application I really want to use right away on the tablet is hopelessly not working, even though it's supposed to be quitre integral and pre-installed. A bummer.
I can be reached also at d o c u m a x [AT] gmail dot com.
THANK YOU.

Can't thank you enough for quick response. Did try the second option with no luck, though.

Someone reported repository issues a day or so ago... might be related to your issue. Did you try searching the forum for previous posts like yours?

Just reflashed and downloaded Skype for OS2008. Downloaded and works as advertised.

After installing the green button. You need to go to

Application manager > Menu > Tools > refresh application list.

Then try to install from the skype button in My selection.

Details after the error message...
Application packages missing: libhildonfm2 (>=1;19.49)
libhildonmime0 (>=1.10.1)

Whatever the hell that is. But guys, why wouldn't skype be able to open at all, from right out of the box? Makes no sense.
