I don't know whether y'all have had the opportunity to try this or not, but a west coast buddy (he received his n800 yesterday) and I had our very first video conference last night using the n800's built in video camera and our broadband connections.

The incoming stream was pretty compressed, and not very beautiful, but it sure made us feel like we're living in the 21st century, we've been waiting all our lives to have a vidphone! The audio quality was OK, not great - it may be that the quality of video and audio are limited by our broadbandwidth, but other streaming vids come through looking a lot better than our live video stream from the onboard gear.

Has anyone tried hooking up a higher quality video camera to the N800 via the USB port for better streaming vid than provided by the onboard camera? I hooked up my Panasonic PV-GS320 3ccd camera last night via the OTG mini-to-standard USB dongle (it works GREAT - get one or two - a steal at $6!!) briefly before bedtime, and I was able to view (on the n800 screen) all the still photos stored on the Panasonic's memory card. But I did not get the chance to try vidcasting with the outboard camera.

The Panasonic camera may be utilized as a webcam on any Windows machine, but I imagine that the drivers for Xp ain't going to work on the n800. Are there any generic video streaming/USB webcam apps for the N800 that will allow videoconferencing using a better quality camera like the Panasonic?
