I have just purchased an N800. I have opened it once, made the time, date and device name selections and then switched it off.
It never opened again. I am pressing the power button and holding but bothing happens. I charged it also. It is still off.
Probably I will have to return it, but I would like to ask if anyone experienced such a problem. May be there is something little wrong I am doing. Thanks in advance

Does the unit charge when you connect the charger? And did you try taking out the battery out and putting it back??

I checked it again now on the screen there is a"charging indicator". I think I did not recharge it sufficiently. I started the power on and it started. Thank you very much

You really should reflash right away with the latest OS2008 operating system--that would be 51.3. They have fixed the power-on problem you seem to have been having.

I have not tried yet the reflashing. Currently the weird problem with my N800 still persists.
After the charging sign appeared on the screen it started normally. After a few hours I removed the charger and tried to start the device. But it did not start. Then I started to recharge again. The charging sign on the screen appeared after 3-4 minutes. Then I tried to start and it worked.

So it is clear that if it is being recharged and also if there is charging sign on the screen, device starts normally. Otherwise the device is not opened at all.

I hope it is not a hardware problem.

I had different issue last week when I got my. I took it out the box on last Thursday plug in the charger then charger status came on. Then later on after it was done charging. Hold power button turn it on 3-4 seconds then it went off. Friday I sent it back to post office and get it a exchange or repair where I got it from. I thinking it was a circuit board issue. Yes I am a first time user. I going to learn more about Linux before I get the replacement one.

Only once had the situation where I couldn't switch my N800 on, but taking out the battery for ten minutes fixed that.

I switched to OS2008 and now it seems OK.

By the way I bought it from Buy.com.

This is a known problem, and it was fixed in the latest version of OS2008, so now that you have flashed you should be all set.

My N800 is not booting up at all, and when I left it plugged in, nothing is showing up on the screen. I removed the battery and let it sit for a while, still nothing.

Any advice?
