Hi, I wonder if there is any way to send display information out to a TV. I mean, I have kids movies in my N800, then on vacation I want just plug a wire from the N800 to the hotel TV so they can watch the movies in a big screen. I tried today to plug a cable from the N800 headphone plug to the TV red, white and yellow input plug. I got audio through the TV speakers but not video.

Any ideas ?

No, not possible. Some USB-VGA adapters are working, but not for video framerates.

This external multimedia adapter looks like it might do the trick by using the N800 like any other USB storage device.

I think someone mentioned that there's some kind of graphics chip inside the N800 which has optional TV Out ability, but it's not connected in the right way to allow TV Out. Or something like that... :-)

Nokia do have TV Out ability in an increasing number of their phones, so fingers crossed they'll include that ability in the next tablet.

Well, the OMAP2420 has TV out, but it's not related to the PowerVR. I'd be interested to know if this was something that was maybe excluded from the N8x0's batches or if its still something a devious hacker would be able to wire up.

Yes, for example, the Nokia N93 is an OMAP2420 phone and it has TV out (composite).

Devious hacker? Maybe. 'Normal' hacker? Most probably no. OMAP2420 is stacked with flash (and sdram?) on top and soldered to board so you probably can't get access to right pins.

And BTW, the Epson video chip has TV out too. This one might be slightly easier to use (in software) since we have documentation.
http://vdc.epson.com/index.php?optio...=189&Itemid=40 Sadly it is BGA chip too so pins/balls are hidden. The only chance would be if they thought about it and routed right signals to some solder points on board (quite unlikely, but good easter egg).
