I just bought one of these on ebay and it should be coming in the mail in the next week or so. I'm looking forward to using it as it seems like less of a PITA than a laptop, but more capable than any phone.

I had sort of forgotten about these, until I was looking at Skype wifi phones. Belkin makes one, Netgear, and so on...but they all suck because they don't allow browser logins. However, I remembered seeing a commercial for clips that go in cars to hold phones and GPS units. The guy had several Nokia internet tablets...so I remembered that and decided to check out what exactly it is.

I'm going on a week-long trip in the beginning of September and decided this would be just the thing to take along so that I can stay productive but highly mobile. I'll also be in a lot of hotspots, so hopefully I can get good quality skype calls. When out of wifi range, as I understand it, I can Bluetooth this thing to my Blackberry and I can use the internet on that. I have unlimited data access, so this is an excellent option.

Just curious as to whether anything I've said here is expecting too much of the n800 or if there's any big hitches I need to watch out for. I'll have nearly a month to get it just like I want it.

It sounds like it is the device for your needs, just don't expect a good stable PIM, but everything else should be pretty good.

Apps that might interest you:
WorldTV99
Maemomapper
Xournal - for note taking
Gnumeric - spreadsheet
Numpty Physics
Don't forget to update the firmware before installing anything.
