.. and I was sorely disappointed that there is no automatic scrolling.
I'd be willing to throw some money at the fbreader devs if this feature was added (and I'm sure other people would) is there any hope of this? (doesn't seem likely since it still hasn't been added)
Is there a decent alternative ebook reader that HAS this feature?

I've not tried that. I suppose I will do it next. I'm not married to PalmFiction as an ebook reader but it does do everything I like.

I've spent the last 3 years reading ebooks on a Palm Zire 71 (piece of crap) and used PalmFiction and loved the autoscrolling feature. The Zire 71 even had a physical "joystick" (in a good position) that could be used for scrolling (unlike the n810) but I still used autoscrolling.
I've seen lots of stuff on these forums and from a google search about how people are asking for this feature. Most of them date back more than a year ago... and still nothing?
