The volume in the headphones is too low even though the volume setting in the Media Player is at the maximum. Is there any other place where volume level could be adjusted? Or is it only could be adjusted from the Media Player itself?

Thanks!

It can be adjusted in two places; the statusbar (the "Master Volume") and the Media Player. Make sure both are up as far as you need it.

If the volume is still too low, I'd advise getting some better ear buds.

Did you crank up the system volume in the desktop?

In case you hadn't noticed it yet, plugging a set of headphones in causes the Master Volume to drop down something like 10%.

It didn't happen when I first got my N800, only after I upgraded to Diablo (??).

When I plug in a set of headphones, I always have to remember to click the volume control and slide the volume back up to max. I can see it adjust itself when I plug in/remove the headphones.

There may be an option to turn this feature off, I'm just too lazy to figure it out.

Nokia's sound applet does that evil volume adjustment. If you switch to advanced-backlight (everyone should; it has backlight, sound, and (if rotation is installed) screen rotation controls, and the backlight gives full control instead of 5 notches), it won't do that any more.

Nope, I'm wrong, checked and I do still have that adjustment. Maybe this has changed (I suspect multimediad), or maybe I'm just remembering wrong.

Curiouser and curiouser. I am running the Advanced-Backlight applet. I still have the volume adjustment.

I'm not disputing your (or anyone else's) word. Just how it works here.

Perhaps there is more to do than just installing Advanced Backlight and enabling it (and disabling the Nokia one, of course)?

I bought two weeks ago a Sony in-ear phones. With the shipped ear-phones I also had to put the volumes to the max and I noticed that it was hurting my ears. With these new ones, I don't have to put the volume so high and have a better quality too. Definitely not the case that I don't hear street noise anymore, just more dimmed.
