I installed carman, and my n810 seemed to behave a lot better in regard to gps with almost all programs. It seems to run it's own gpsd server? Because maemo maps and other programs that use gpsd run fine with it going. Just have to run the carman control panel app and click on find fix, and so far every gps program I've tried works, now. I had a lot of frustration trying that gpsd program with the cool tray or side icon with the satelite map, it seemed completely incompatable with programs that just used the normal gps control panel tray icon. However, the carman seems to make every program work fine. I ordered a cheap bluetooth gps unit and am looking forward to comparing, and I'm pretty happy with my decision to order, but to be honest was not expecting carman to fix the gps the way it did. Let me know if installing carman helped or didn't help your n810 gps functionality. I sold my car last year, and have gotten into walking 5-10-20 miles listening to music and slowly shedding those calories, and having a working gps means a lot to me. Almost all the reviews of n810 gps I've seen have been negative, and I totally agreed until I installed carman. My favorites are ecoach, which saves .gpx files that work great with bimactive, and maemo mapper with it's point of interest functionality. In any case thought I'd drop a line in here and relay my surprise to have my n810 suddenly start being a consistantly reliable gps unit. Had it for like a month, totally having a lot of fun with this thing

Surely not a rhetorical question?
