That's our plan. And not just Nokia tablets, but OpenMoko and others as well, however the target so far is hw fixed inside cars, with displays equal or equal than N8x0 series (>=4").
Maps will probably come as separate UI rendering and backend to provide map tiles and routes. The idea is to do partnership with map providers in order to provide DB and offline route. OpenStreet will be an option for sure, but for most places it is still too barebones, Brazil for instance.

Along with all the summer of codes projects the future for canola is indeed looking pretty bright.

I hope this will be a nice UI on top of openstreetmap with offline routing. That would be awesome!
