Media Player natively supports 3gp files but not 3g2. I have some 3g2s and rather than converting them all to 3gp, is there a way to permanently associate the 3g2 files to open in Media Player without having to go through the "Search for an application to open it" window? Thanks!

Do you mean that the Media Player will play 3G2s without conversion, or you have to convert it before hand? If it's the former, you can use pipeline's dbus-switchboard to associate the type.

So when I open up the file manager and double click on 3gp files, media player will automatically load and start playing the 3gp file. When I double click on a 3g2 a window pops up saying

Unable to recognize file type of <file name.3g2> Search for an application to open it?
Is there any way to be able to make media player recognize the 3g2 files so that when I double click the 3g2 file, media player would automatically start as if I double clicked a 3gp file? Or, is there a way to get 3g2 files to show up in the Media Player library? 3gp files show up but 3g2s don't.
