We have this problem of brainstorm proposals being discussed in Brainstorm and in Talk threads at the same time. How to solve this? Please vote and add you own ideas.

I have played the evil's advocate role with the three solutions already listed. Just in case someone thought that the solution is obvious.

I'd agree with "Discussion in linked Talk thread".

If it could be automated so that when a new Brainstorm idea is posted it gets a thread with a link to it with the text and everything.

i think it's a good idea to either manually or automatically start a new talk thread with the pre-text "brainstorm:" in the header, as well as linking to the brainstorm idea.

in the long run, talk and brainstorm might be better off as one. for example, the brainstorm idea could be integrated into the thread in a similar way as a poll is presented today: in the beginning of a thread.

now, if only i'd be able to edit my already posted brainstorm idea, i could start a new thread myself. apparently editing brainstorm entries is not allowed for regular users.

After more thinking, having threads created in Talk for very Brainstorm idea created helps also solving two problems more:

Watching Brainstorm
, since Talk is equipped with feeds per forum (to follow a Brainstorm forum) and email notifications (to follow the discussion of specific ideas).

Landing in Brainstorm, since Talk is a very popular destination and having an organiz link with Brainstorm will help users finding it and see its relevance.

Even if the amounof votes is not overwhelming, I think the difference is clear compared to the rest of proposals. It would be good if Reggie, Henri and Oskari could read this and have a say (this topic was discussed back in June by them but I can't remember the details). Hopefully this task could make it for the next sprint.

In the meantime if we agree on implementing this we could make sure that at last the new thrrads in the sandbox have done the homework creating the Talk thrads and linking to/from them.

So there's gotta be a brainstorm sub-forum here to collect them threads, right?

I'd also like to suggest to have an 'Active Brainstorm' widget\sidebar thing like the 'Active Topics' in tmo. It should be positioned right under 'Active Topics' sidebar to gain more traffic and jumpstart brainstorm to a true ideas storm...

Also, the voting results are a lit skewed by the fact that some solutions will obviously be posted later and hence will have considerably less exposure. It would be perhaps good to have a call-for-solutions period, which would include discussions in talk, and then only the distilled solutions posted to brainstorm for voting. Not sure where should I post this enhancement/idea/suggestion/problem/etc.

Note that the voting of solutions is an indicative of solutions selected and "social support" of each of them. Still, the solution implemented depends ultimately of the one implementing them.

Actually 2 of the current 3 implemented solutions were not the most voted http://maemo.org/community/brainstor...ted/fremantle/
