I'm planning on buying a mobile device in the next comming months.
The competitors are any umpc or Nokia Internet Tablet.

Can I use all google features on N770? (Want to use google: mail, talk, calendar and last but not least docs and SPREADSHEETS.

Could anyone tell me if this works (out of the box)? Thx

Another question: is it possible to view movies in the browser (mainly Youtube, Apple Quicktime site, ...)

I'm not clear on the os part of the N770 if you buy it now does it come with Tablet OS 2005 of Tablet OS 2006

Unfortunately, a few of the better Google services don't play well with the 770. The ones that do however work very well. Gmail works fine [mail.google.com/mail/h/ works best in my opinion]. The Google Talk client for the 770 works perfectly, but you won't have some of the newer features such as file transfers, voicemail, and music status until they decide to update it [if at all]. Chat and voice is really good to have on the 770 though. You'll have to be a bit creative when it comes to Google Calendar as it doesn't exactly work as it should on the 770. You can only use one callendar for this hack, but if you bookmark the Private Address HTML link in the settings of your chosen callendar you can view it just fine. Only drawback is that you can't edit in this view. Google Docs & Spreadsheets don't work with the 770's browser apparently, but you can view published documents and spreadsheets that have been exported as HTML.

I believe the 770 is the best mobile device purchase I've made in a very long time. I highly reccomend getting it if you plan on using it mostly for web use. If you need a lot of productivity options like document editing and more advanced computing, you'd likely be better off with a UMPC or ultra mobile notebook.

As for which version of the OS comes with the 770 these days, I think you're more likely to find one with 2006, but the box should give a hint to which one it contains.

...it's also worth noting that the upgrade from 2005 OS to 2006 OS is free and easy, so it doesn't matter.

To further add to the comments about Google services, things like Docs & Spreadsheet might well work in the Mozilla "Minimo" port - this wouldn't meet your "out of the box" requirement; but it's progressing quickly and end-user installable.

Finally, YouTube, Google Video and Apple QuickTime won't work embedded within the browser, but you can use VidConvert to convert them online and then either stream or download the results back to your 770.

What about Google history and Google bookmarks? Seems like these would be particularly useful on a 770, and I already use them...
