Is it possible to zoom widescreens to fit the screen (no black bars). This is a good indicator of scaling features in the drivers. HD2 has the feature, but Droid (Android fault) does not.

The default media player for the n900 will scale until the rescaled X or Y axis of the video hits one of the sides of the screen. Whatever the rest will be black bars.

E.g. it rescales and hits Y axis means that it will be no black bars on the sides but there might be some on the top and bottom.

From command line: cropping with mplayer
VLC will probably allow cropping as well.
