Is there any under development app for live streaming TV?

If not with this thread I would like to request one.

With VLC + a TV/SAT card in the PC, yes. I cant wait to get my N900. I have a program on my PC called piiptv. It streams direct from the PC to the mobie device.I love it. It works well on Nokias. If you have a setup like this, have a look. When installed on PC, you have a webui, you can acces form everywhere and a button to stream that direct with VLC, so no need to install anything else then VLC on the N900.

But do you know, if the official version of VLC for Maemo supports that. Maybe it's missing features compared to the desktop variant?

Yes maybe..

What I meant by application is a nice program that organized all channels by country etc.

I hope so, the programm asks, where the VLC is installed on the PC, because it streams from this VLC to the mobile. So i dont see a problem because there is just VLC to VLC. (I hope so )
It will be one of the first things i will test. If it does not work, the programmer is very nice. He helped me to get it going on the N97. So i will ask him again, if there is a way to get it going

I knew what you ment, something like TVU Player, but we are far away from such an application & I don't think that one is in development atm. Maybe a port from N8x0 devices, but didn't see one there either.
Technically it's possible ofc. So you can go to Brainstorm section and create a new brainstorm for that idea.

If VLC for Maemo 5 isn't ready, VLC on the computer can stream to some other app on the N900. VLC will stream all sorts of streams: http://www.videolan.org/streaming-features.html

I hope it is when i get my N900
As i told, the Dev. will sure help to get it going on the player that is installed on the N900. I will ask him as soon as i have my N900....
On the other Nokias it works with realplayer, but that's not on the N900.

knots2 does live streaming of tv channels (with either mythtv, vdr or vlc as backend)

Knots also supports "tags", meaning you can tag the channels with e.g. a country code to categorize them as you wish.
