I figured it was cheap enough so I bought a n810. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it though? Any suggestions. My N770 has been collecting dust since I haven't had much use for it. I don't know why I bought another one. I'm just fascinated with gadgets I guess.

well, I know what I would do with it. Probably pretty similar to what I do with my n800.... but your interests may not be the same. You could always of course send it to me, or even that n770.
I use my n800 to read books, it makes a great ebook reader. Also, movies are nice on it, playing nes games, or old dos games. Comes in handy for me using ssh to get into servers at work, or rdesk/vnc. Browsing the web as well.

How much did you get it for btw?

I got mine on ebay as well.

I use evince, the new FF browser, lot's of audio podcasts and RSS!

I use this thing for about 3 hours or more every day.

THey are saying that the new Beta of GVM is also bringing life back to the 800 and 810. Would be cool to run some apps that I haven't done for quite a while!

when you say servers what do you mean, I was wondering if it was a way to use my work network...

I probably overpaid at $162 shipped. It said it was new though. We shall see if that is true. Ebay can be a gamble.

I didn't know podcasts were available on this device. I really need to wire up my car stereo to listen to them in the car(not sure how to do this).

What is so cool about the new GVM? Is it the same on the n770 as for the n810?

I have no idea what rdesk/vnc is.

It can bring seamless interphase with winPC to function as a super remote control with a monitor in your palm, more info here.

my personal use of a N800 would be:

1. early morning web browsing (usually odb plus fb) while making breakfast.
2. check weather before leaving home
3. mails for quick view when i am not on desk
4. quite some FB (and Twitter via Mauku)
5. quite a lot of Sodoku using Simsu
6. taking notes using Maemopad+
7. sometimes i use it to prepare my shopping list via Todledo, just load it up when i have WiFi, then off i go to shopping
8. i write scripts on it, and play with the programming part of it (PyMaemo)
9. i use it to VoIP - the built in client works pretty well with SipGate.
10. i do use the alarm clock on and off. the third tone is pretty nice
11. i do use MaemoMapper on and off. but usually i don need that (have no car, you see... :P)

I believe you can do quite a lot on it, and a N810 at this point is perhaps a very good priced device. have fun!

i got mine from ebay about a month ago. I paid 200$ for it.. kinda got ripped(compared to what they usually sell for) but ah well.

Conola 2 is a must for the n810! Its a great music player-blows away the iphones interface!

Skype is well... skype! Get it

Advance backlit with the screen rotation is totally kickbut on the n810. it works great for full screen browsing, music playing ect

BlueMaemo is an awesome lil program to control devices using bluetooth. I use it to make my n810 a bluetooth keyboard and mouse for playing games on my benq s6 umpc! Works great!

Scumm VM is a blast from the past, ive got the entire lucas arts collection here and it works perfectly on the n810

The nintendo emulators are quite good. Ive got drknoknes installed with 750 Roms! 90% of them play perfect! (And only take up 1.2gigs of space! Not bad for 750 games)

The ines emu is ok, ive got that installed with 800 roms, and mastergear (sega 8 bit emu) with 200 roms.

Id recomend buying a 16gb microsd card for it if you intend on using it for music, games, roms and such. The measily 2gb internal mem just doesnt cut it!
