Mhm.. Is this another setting I don't see or doesn't the bowser on the N900 use auto-complete for text entered via the hardware keyboard?

More than two thirds of my typing are done within the browser, so it's really annoying I have no text prediction at all there.

That is a _good_ question!

In a browser, there are two kinds of text entry fields; one is a part of the browser program (such as the field where you type web adresses like google.com), the other is part of the web page, inside where you see all that text of the webpage.

Since webpages can control how those text-entry fields behave, it may be too difficult or expensive to find a way to add autocompletion.

---

i would far prefer some way to disable javascript that scans what i am typing. I see 3-15 second delays typing into google and other sites.

Huh? Isn't Benny just talking about what was already implemented in Maemo 4 (including MicroB), as well as in lots of phones (apparently done best in Blackberry)?

In times of AJAX implementing this IS complicated. Not from my own experience (I'm not a hacker), but from talking to the Browser guys and from knowing about internal bug reports...

Maemo4 did it differently: They used a bar outside the text input field for word suggestions. Worked better (not only because of this), but probably can't be done on the smaller screen.

Let's see if I can file a bug about this later. Commercial break ends.
