I don't know anything about programming, and I was wondering how hard it is to port some linux command-line based programs to maemo?
As I understood it, maemo 5 is "debian based", what does it mean exactly? Can we say that for example the difference between ubuntu and maemo is only the graphic interface, but they are the same underneath, or are there more divergences between them?
So, I saw ssh in extras, what about lftp, latex, emacs etc? I saw mplayer, unzip/untar are not in extras yet. Why is it difficult to port them? (lftp?)
I'm not criticizing at all, I'm just curious
