I read a post suggesting turning off 3g to save battery but haven't managed to figure out how to do it. Anyone know how to do it?

does it significantly increase battery life? using 2/2.5g as opposed to 3g?

On my SE K800i I used to get about 30% more battery life by turning off 3g. I didn't use the data connection much and it was an old phone so things may have got better.

a lot, especially if the 3G coverage is weak where you live

It's very weak where I live, so I keep it turned off. This dramatically increased the batttery life. However, if I use wifi, it really kills the point. To the point that unless they fix this I wont be able to use my phone at any wifi hotspots without thinking its going to die.
