I was thinking today, would it be possible to use your n900 through your PC as a separate window when you are connected to it using the usb. Using the keyboard to type and using the mouse to navigate? Maybe as a separate program.

Look into VNC.

Not via USB though, but wifi.

I think you're asking something very similar to what this guy is asking here.

General consensus seems to be no, not really.

You could probably setup some kind of USB networking and use the standard VNC server/client... and I kinda wish people could port over Synergy. That would be sweet.

I probably said that wrong.... it's probably and most likely certainly possible....
Just that no one has done it yet.

Not as, like, a dual monitor setup... but Synergy comes really close to mimicking that kind of setup.

Emm, wouldn't VNC do exactly what he wants?

Use PC, set up a dual monitor, VNC to the Maemo and make that full screen on the second display making monitor 1 the OS (Windows?) and the second the device. Did I misunderstand the OP?

"would it be possible to use your n900 through your PC as a separate window"

I'm thinking using the Maemo as a window, not using the Maemo screen as a secondary display. The N900 would run VNC server.

I was thinking running maemo OS on a separate window in Windows. Just browsing through the OS and using the keyboard and mouse to send texts and emails through the PC.

VMWare is available, search forums, but, if you just run the OS how would you send anything, there is no physical GSM radio?
