"Actual outcome:
at the bottom center there 5 "loading" dots. This goes forever."
I have an unsupported message. Also, not an AVI/XVID but an MPEG/MPEG.

Thanks, I'm not alone. Voted.
Also, 8165 is not my bug, since KMPlayer plays them, they aren't locked.
I have several MPEG files (MPEG1), that played just fine on my N900 until PR 1.1. After carelessly assuming that since PR 1.1 has some issues on some people's N900 with extra decoders, I blamed them, likely for nothing. (sorry)
So. My N900 no longer plays MPEG files. They are listed in the list. They have thumbnails (from the previous version), but now pushing the thumbnail gets me five dots for a second then the ding and the format not supported.
I KNOW they played before. Also, MPlayer plays them just fine if launched from MC or via KMplayer Open dialog. PC (W7) plays them fine, MPC-HC reports MPEG video and MP3 audio.
So, ideas? Options? Known issues? Who is responsible for MPEG? Can I check the codec is there? Can I see if it's registered OK? Anything?
Thanks.

N900 dead and Nokia no longer replaces them. Thanks for all the fish.
