Hopefully a quickly answerable question: what's the quickest way to copy the links to the N900?

Say I'm sitting at my desktop, I browse to a page and see that there is a podcast that I'd like to add to gPodder. I could either type in the address I'm on on to my N900 and click on the podcast link from there or I could type in the full podcast link.

However on my N95 8gb, I used to copy the address to a QR-code generator online and just photograph the resulting QR-Code. It used to be a lot quicker than typing addresses in manually (especially long podcast ones).

n.b. I know I'll soon be able to add addresses online to a gPodder account and have this accessible from my N900 but this would still be useful if I saw a streaming video that I wanted to view or simply wanted to copy search results or a web page address to my N900.

You can create a special gTalk account that you'll connect to from your N900 and then send messages from any other gTalk account to that one. That would be by far the easiest...

Or you can ssh to your device and invoke its browser from the command line.

I put such things in my iGoogle sticky notes or bookmarks.

zwer - I hadn't thought of using gTalk for that, that's an idea. The only problem is that I am generally logged into my main Google account when I'm at my desk as that's where all my e-mails go to. I suppose I could use another browser and log into the special gTalk account there?

ssh? I'm afraid that my N900 is my first introduction to Linux and I haven't actually got around to the command line yet... I will have to do a quick crash course at some point!

twaelti - I haven't actually used iGoogle yet as I've never really had a reason to but this could be the one.

Thanks!

Use evernote. Can be installed on Windows or Mac, or use on website. BrowserPlugin also. N900 app. Always synced.

You don't need to login to that separate gTalk account from your PC - you login on it from your N900, and you add that account as a contact in your main gTalk account. So you are sending messages from your main account on your PC to your N900 designated account.

uncle.sam - I would love to use evernote but there's no app yet and using the browser is a bit fiddly at the moment -unless I'm missing something?

zwer - wouldn't that mean that I would not be able to receive IMs from my main google account on my handset?

There is evernote in extras or extras-testing. Haven't tried it tho.

No, I'm talking about IM accounts, not about email accounts. You'd still be able to receive mail from whatever account you like, just add that `additional` account at Settings / VoIP and IM accounts.

Ah ok, I was getting confused. Thanks for clearing that up. I will set up another IM account and give that a try.

The evernote app in extras isn't a full evernote app. From what I remember it just allows pictures and text to be uploaded to evernote. There's no View, Edit, Add note, Move notes around etc.
